2010 Toyota Corolla
The Toyota Corolla is a compact sedan known for its dependability, comfort, and overall great value. The 2010 Toyota Corolla adds standard stability to its already extensive list of sought after features. The Toyota Corolla comes available in five trim levels: Base, LE, S, XLE, and XRS. The Base, LE, S, and XLE are operated by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that allows for 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. The five-speed manual transmission returns 26 miles per gallon city driving and 35 miles per gallon highway driving, with a combined miles per gallon of 30 according to the EPA. The option of automatic transmission carries on similar performance with 26 miles per gallon city driving and 34 miles per gallon highway driving. The XRS is powered by a 2.4 liter engine rated at 158 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Both manual and automatic transmissions result in 22 miles per gallon city driving and 30 miles per gallon highway driving.
The Corolla is equipped with extensive safety features, which have allowed it to perform well in federal government crash tests and be named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. Standard safety features include antilock brakes, front-seat side and full length side curtain airbags and stability control.
Base Corollas include air conditioning, power mirrors, 15-inch wheels, and CD/MP3 stereo as standard features. The LE trim adds power door locks and power windows with driver-side auto down feature. The S trim gains leather-trimmed steering wheel with auto controls, two additional speakers, day/night rearview mirror with mounted maplights, 16-inch steel wheels, and underbody spoilers. The next trim up, the XLE, includes intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle, wood-grain style interior trim, and keyless entry. The XRS loses some of the XLE’s standard features, but offers 17-inch alloy wheel, cruise control, and chrome interior trim as standard.
Stand alone options for most trims include power tilt/sliding moonroof, cruise control, and a six disc in dash CD charger with playback capability. Packages and Extra Value Packages are also available. The Power package, which includes power windows and remote keyless entry, is an option package available for the S and XRS. The Leather Trim Package is also available for the S and XRS, and contains leather trimmings throughout the vehicle. Lastly, the S offers an optional Sports Package which includes 16-inch alloy wheels, rear deck spoiler, remote keyless entry, and cruise control. The LE, XLE, and S have an Extra Value Package tailored to each individual trim for additional features at a discounted price.
The 2010 Corolla offers a telescoping steering wheel, a new feature that makes driving much more comfortable, especially for taller drivers. The interior offers plenty of space for both children and adults which results in comfortable seating. Easy to use features and plenty of storage possibilities inside the cabin both add to Corolla’s appealing interior design.
