2010 Toyota Prius
The first car of its kind the Toyota Prius is still the best hybrid car you can buy on the market. With an estimated average of 51 miles per gallon in the city and 48 on the highway, this hybrid vehicle is levels above the rest. These different trims each have their own unique features. The Prius II includes a Touch Tracer Display and an available smart key system. The Prius III comes with Bluetooth and XM satellite radio options; voice-activated navigation is also an available option. The Prius IV includes leather trimmed seats and steering wheel with available solar roof and navigation. The Prius V has 17 inch alloy wheels and an available advanced technology package as well as LED headlamps and integrated fog lamps.
Starting on the outside all four Prius models come standard with LED tail lamps; foldable power outside mirrors and heated outside mirrors. The Prius II, III and IV come standard with 15 inch 5-spoke alloy wheel. The rear window has an electric defogger with timer and intermittent rear window wiper. The Prius also comes with Hybrid Synergy Drive; which is Toyota’s name for the advanced hybrid technology that uses both electricity and gasoline to operate depending on the driving situation. The Prius has the ability to use either electricity or gasoline or both while driving. It will run at the most efficient level regardless of engine speed. The Hybrid Synergy Drive enhances power output while at the same time increasing efficiency and controlling emissions. As part of an option package the Prius III and IV models are also available come with a power tilt/slide moonroof with solar powered ventilation system and remote air conditioning system.
On the inside the Prius comes standard with CFC-free climate control with electric compressor, dust and pollen filtration and humidity sensor and air filter. Except for the II model there is also a 6-disc CD changer with eight speakers; satellite radio and Bluetooth capability. All models come standard with power windows and the remote keyless entry system with a push button start. The navigation package is available for the Prius III, IV and V which includes voice activated, touch screen DVD navigation system with 4-disc CD changer, USB port with iPod connectivity; integrated satellite radio capability, XM NavTraffic capability; hands-free phone capability and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology and integrated backup camera. Safety Connect is also available as an option in the Prius IV and V. This feature keeps drivers in touch with a 24/7 response team in case of accident or emergency. This system requires a subscription but a 1-year subscription is included with equipped new Toyota vehicle purchases. This service provides quick response and care from emergency service providers. All Toyota Prius models come standard with at Star Safety System which includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control plus traction control, anti-lock brake system and electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. An advanced airbag system as well as mounted and side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags are also a standard feature on all models. The NHTSA gave the Prius 4 star passenger and driver safety ratings as well as a 5 star side impact front rating and a 4 star side impact rear rating.
