The Toyota Tacoma has been named the best selling in its class of compact pickup trucks for five years in a row by MotorIntelligence.com. The Tacoma has commanded 40% of the compact pickup market and outsells the next most popular model by almost 2 to 1. The Toyota Tacoma is known for its car-like interior but its truck capabilities of towing and strength.

There are four different trims available in the Toyota Tacoma. The regular cab is available as a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual. The Tacoma Access Cab is available as a 5-speed or 6-speed manual, as well as a 4-speed or 5-speed automatic. The Tacoma Double Cab is available as a 4 or 5-speed automatic 6-speed manual. The Tacoma X-Runner is only available as a 6-speed manual. All four trims come standard with a fiber-reinforced molded composite inner bed with steel outer panels, storage compartments, rail caps and a removable tailgate. All trims also come standard with automatic limited-slip differential, as well as fixed cargo bed tie-down points. The Tacoma Access Cab and Tacoma X-Runner come equipped with dual rear-hinged access doors. The Tacoma Double Cab is equipped with a full back seat and standard rear doors. The backseat of the Tacoma Double Cab is a 60/40 split bench with adjustable headrests and under-seat storage. The Access Cab and X-Runner come standard with fold-up rear seats with under-seat storage. The regular cab, access cab and double cab come standard with AM/FM radio, CD with MP3 playback capability, audio jack, and satellite radio capability; the Access cab has 6 speakers including two ceiling-mounted speakers, while the X-Runner comes standard with 7 speakers including two-ceiling mounted speakers and subwoofer. An available option in the Tacoma Double Cab is a 6-disc CD changer with seven speakers and subwoofer.
All four trims come standard with Toyota’s Star Safety System, which includes vehicle stability control and traction control with an off switch, as well as anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. All new 2011 Toyota models also come standard with Smart Stop Technology. This technology is designed to reduce engine power when the brake is applied firmly helping to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. All 2011 Toyota Tacomas also come standard with driver and front passenger airbags, as well as side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags. There are also side-impact beams in all doors. All vehicles also come standard with a tire pressure monitoring system. Daytime running lights are available as an option on all models.
Extra value packages are offered for each trim except the X-Runner. These packages include many different available options and are more affordable when deciding to add options to the basic package. The Extra Value Package for the Regular cab includes audio with AM/FM CD with 6-disc in dash CD changer, MP3 playback capability, six speakers with subwoofer, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls, as well as XM radio with a 90-day trial subscription. The Extra Value Package, which is available for the Access Cab and Double Cab trims, includes remote keyless entry, cruise control, variable-speed wipers, chrome grill surround and rear bumper, sliding rear window with privacy glass, a leather steering wheel with audio controls, and a backup camera.
