Toyota’s small-to-midsize crossover SUV, the RAV4, is roomy, luxurious and powerful. Named one of the Best Family Cars in 2010 by Parents magazine, this four-door, compact sport utility vehicle has the ability to seat seven passengers. It has an additional optional Split & Stow 3rd Row™ seat and offers considerable cargo space for any family on the go. The 73 cubic feet of cargo space can be easily accessed by simply flipping a lever.
All models are available with either front- or full-time all-wheel drive and the RAV4 offers drivers three different trim levels to choose from: a Base model, a performance-oriented Sport model and a top-of-the-line Limited model. The RAV4 comes equipped with either a 2.5-liter, 179-hp four-cylinder engine and four-speed automatic transmission or a 3.5-liter, 269-hp V6 engine and five-speed automatic transmission. The 2011 RAV4 gets an average 22 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway, depending on the engine and drivetrain.
The base level RAV4 comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels—17-inch for the V6—and a limited-slip differential on front-drive models. For comfort and convenience, air-conditioning, cruise control, full power accessories, keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, adjustable driver’s seat and a six-speaker stereo with CD player and auxiliary audio jack also come standard on the base model.
The RAV4 Sport adds 18-inch alloy wheels, color-keyed bumpers and sportier suspension to the case level standard features. Also available to all Sport models is the touch screen DVD navigation system and a Sport Appearance Package, which includes run-flat tires, a stainless steel exhaust tip, heated sideview mirrors and chrome accents.
In addition to the base level features, the Limited model comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a hard shell spare tire cover and roof rails. Automatic headlights, heated exterior mirrors, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an upgraded satellite radio-ready stereo with a six-CD changer are other extras added to the RAV4 Limited.
The RAV4 comes equipped with exceptional safety features including a Star Safety System™—Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Break-force Distribution and Brake Assist. Driver and front passenger seatbelt warning system and Advanced Airbag system, as well as Emergency Locking Retractors for all seatbelts are also standard safety features. Finally, a tire pressure monitoring system and engine immobilizer are just a few other safety features that come standard on the 2011 RAV4.
The RAV4 offers a variety of packages with features designed to meet your specific needs. The Premium Package is available for the Sport and Limited models and includes leather-trimmed seats, an 8-way adjustable power driver’s seat with power lumbar support and driver and front passenger heated seats. The Tow Prep Package is available for V6 models and provides a 3,500-lb. towing capacity and an upgraded radiator, fan coupling and alternator. There are also other extra value packages for each trim that offer features like Daytime Running Lights, power moonroof and Bluetooth® capabilities.
